Webmail FAQ
1. Why are you offering Webmail services?
I
made a decision earlier this year to transfer operations of my own
personal Email over to Google as part of their Google Apps For Your
Domain service. Google has a solid history and reputation in this
area for providing reliable service. Besides, you can't beat
free.
2. Does Google read all mail and serve up
ads?
A computer does, yes; and the ads are shown on
the webmail interface, but there's nothing to stop you from using
POP3 or the BlackBerry application which does not have an
ads.
Bottom line: no one (other than you) will have access to your
mail.
3. Will you (George) have access to my
email?
No, and I don't want it. (See above).
4. What Email addresses can I use?
By
default, your Email address will be your
username@ellenburg.org, but you will be able to receive
mail at:
• username@ellenburg.net
• username@ellenburg.us
• username@ellenburg.name
• username@ellenburg.biz
• username@ellenburg.info
…and of course:
• username@ellenburg.org
You can set up filters from within Google Mail to customize your
Email address and to filter incoming mail.
5. What if I need help using the
service?
Google Apps has an extensive online help
system. I'm sorry, but due to work and travel I can not provide
personalized help with using this service.
6. How much does all this cost?
Seriously,
it's free. The costs for the web and domains are quite small. I do
this because I can.
